Fred Mynard, Ph.D.
Fred Mynard completed his education in France, earning his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1999. Following postdoctoral appointments in Belgium and New Zealand, he moved to the United States in 2001 as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi. In 2004, he joined the faculty at Georgia Southern University, where he earned tenure, was promoted to Professor, and served as President of the Faculty Senate. He relocated in 2014 to New Jersey City University (NJCU) as an Associate Professor, subsequently earning tenure and promotion to Professor. During his tenure at NJCU, he served as Mathematics Department Chair and later as Associate Dean for STEM and Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. Following NJCU’s transition into Kean University, he was appointed Interim Chair of the Department of Psychology—the university's largest academic department.
His research centers on convergence spaces and their applications to topology and analysis. The author of 47 peer-reviewed articles and the research monograph Convergence Foundations of Topology, he is an internationally recognized topologist who regularly mentors undergraduate and graduate research projects domestically and abroad. He serves on the editorial boards of five professional journals and is a member of the steering committee for the annual Summer Conference on Topology and Its Applications, which he chaired from 2014 to 2017. Details on his publications and ongoing projects can be found on his personal website.
