Teaching Philosophy

The first thing that I believe is important to establish in classrooms is the idea that education does not discriminate. No matter one's gender, race, ethnicity, nationality or religion, everybody has a right to pursue knowledge and feel welcome in my classroom. My students are to feel equally welcome have equal opportunities to participate and learn. They should also understand that while education is considered a right in this country, millions of children around the world dream of having opportunities like the ones we have in this country. So while students should absolutely be treated equally; they should also understand the privilege of being able to attend college being that millions will never have the chance, the doors it can open in the future, and that they owe it to themselves to learn and educate themselves about the world.
