Courses Taught
Dr. Bragg has taught a wide range of courses in world history, Middle Eastern history, Ottoman history, Asian civilizations, ancient and medieval history, U.S. history in global context, historical methods and research, honors seminars, and history capstone courses. He has also taught social studies methods and curriculum courses for teacher preparation programs.
Research Interests
Dr. Bragg’s research focuses on the Ottoman Empire and the modern Middle East, with particular interests in U.S.-Ottoman diplomatic relations, migration and citizenship, humanitarianism and refugee politics, and state formation during the Tanzimat era. He is the author of Ottoman Notables and Participatory Politics: Tanzimat Reform in Tokat, 1839–1876 (Routledge, 2014). His scholarship also examines World War I in the Middle East, Turkish folklore and literature, world history, transnational connections, and innovative approaches to history education and experiential learning.
