This book examines the role, history and function of public libraries in contemporary societies as motors that drive development. It includes showcases of the main Seattle Public Library, Spain Library Medellin, Colombia, Library of Alexandria in Egypt and more.

Governing Disaster in Urban Environments provides a comprehensive account of relevant debates, conceptualizations, and practical considerations for the governance of disaster at multiple scales.
