Fall 2025 Moonshot Update

Fall 2024 Registration

Navigate 360

Through Navigate360, faculty and staff can access student data, manage communications, coordinate care through alerts and case management, track departmental check-ins, schedule and document appointments, and analyze engagement through robust reporting and analytics tools.

We’re proud to share the following highlights from the 2024–2025 academic year:

  • System enhancements now include AI-powered tools for message generation and report configuration, enabling users to access custom dashboards with real-time, visualized data.

  • In alignment with Kean’s migration to Microsoft, a new Navigate Support Site was launched, offering step-by-step guides and video tutorials to help users navigate the platform’s features.

  • During June and July, all academic department chairs and administrative leaders were invited to participate in 1:1 inventory meetings to assess current usage, identify areas for improvement, and develop a wish list of desired features. As a result, participating departments will receive strategically configured solutions in time for the Fall 2025 semester.

Teaching and Learning

The Teaching and Learning Best Practice Team for Moonshot for Kean:

  • Designed a pilot program for incoming first time, first-year students to deeply connect their learning to an interdisciplinary theme: Migration, Sustainability, or Democracy & Civic Engagement and create a strong sense of community and belonging.  This program will expand to most of the incoming first year students in Fall 2025!

  • Tracked results and found numerous benefits to students' retention and academic success. See the Moonshot Case Study.

  • Brought together more than 50 faculty from across the university in an intensive Active Learning Course Design Institute, collaboratively led with experts from the University of Georgia. (Pictured on the right)

  • Redesigned our student evaluation of teaching questions to bring more attention to students' sense of belonging in the classroom

Proactive Advising

  • Advising Manual—The best practice team of Proactive Advising has been working on our Final Draft of the Advising Manual. We have gathered feedback from our professional advisors and are in the process of gathering feedback from faculty advisors to ensure that we have the most input prior to disseminating the document to the rest of the Kean community. This document will be used as a fluid resource to further help all advisors support and serve students at Kean.

  • Advising Syllabus— The best practice team of Proactive Advising has been working on the Advising Syllabus. The purpose of the Advising Syllabus is to help students, faculty and professional advisors and institutional constituents understand their roles and responsibilities in terms of academic advising here at Kean University. The Advising Syllabus is in its final stages of being reviewed by our professional advisors and faculty advisors.

  • Advisor Training—The best practice team of Proactive Advising has begun the preliminary stages of outlining and creating the Advisor Training platform, modules and looking at types of modalities the training would occur in. We met with Kean Online and folks from Transformational Learning to discuss next steps and key benchmarks to move this initiative forward for the upcoming academic year.

Transfer Pathways

CAPS Transfer Advising Update – Fall 2025

We’re excited to share recent progress in our support for incoming transfer students:

  • Expanded Advising Coverage: CAPS now advises new transfer students with fewer than 30 credits, effective Fall 2025. This ensures early academic guidance and smoother transitions for students in this credit range.
  • Group Counseling Sessions: CAPS has scheduled group counseling sessions in both virtual and in-person formats, offering flexible options to meet diverse student needs.
