The Kean Jersey City Advisement Center

Welcome!

The Kean Jersey City Advisement Center provides personalized academic guidance to help you reach your academic goals. From your first semester through graduation, you'll work with a dedicated academic advisor who will guide you through course registration, develop a personalized degree map and keep you on track toward earning your degree. Advisors are assigned based on your academic program and last name to ensure consistent, individualized support throughout your time at Kean.

Mission

The Kean Jersey City Advisement Center is dedicated to helping every undergraduate student navigate their college journey with confidence. Through personalized advising, proactive support and connections to campus resources, we empower students to earn their degrees and build a strong foundation for future success.

Vivianne Jimenez, Director

Vivianne Jimenez brings more than 20 years of higher education experience to her role as director of the Kean Jersey City Advisement Center. She holds a B.A. in Graphic and Multimedia Design from Bloomfield College and an M.S. in Educational Technology from Full Sail University. Guided by a strong belief in the transformative power of education, she is committed to creating a supportive environment where students can thrive academically and personally.

Before joining Kean Jersey City, Jimenez served as Dean of Students at Branford Hall Career Institute and chaired the Design and Animation program at the Chubb Institute for 12 years. Inspired by her own undergraduate experience, she is passionate about helping students navigate their college journey with confidence and realize their full potential.

Whether you have a quick question or need in-depth academic planning, the Kean Jersey City Advisement Center offers both walk-in advising and scheduled appointments to support your needs.

Walk-In Advising
Walk-in advising is ideal for quick questions and brief guidance, including:

  • Referrals to campus resources and offices
  • Questions about academic policies and procedures
  • General Education course add/drop
  • Pass/fail options
  • Course withdrawals
  • Changing your enrollment status (part time/full time)
  • Declaring a major or minor

Scheduled Advisement Appointments
Schedule an appointment for more in-depth advising, including:

  • Course registration and academic planning
  • Complex registration issues
  • Degree requirements, including General Education, majors and minors
  • Major exploration or changing your major or minor
  • Graduation planning
  • Post-graduation planning

In-Person and Virtual Walk-In Advising

Walk-in advising is available in person and virtually for quick questions and brief advising support.

Location: Vodra Hall, Room 101

Monday–Thursday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. to Noon
