Kean University

Exciting Opportunity for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Kean University's annual International Business Plan Competition, sponsored by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and the College of Business and Public Management, is now accepting applications.  The deadline for the submission of executive summaries is February 20, 2017. Registration is now underway.

The competition is open to all currently enrolled students of Kean University.  Students can compete as individuals or in teams. Teams may have a maximum of 3 members.

Entrants should begin with a creative business idea and then explain the product or service, its target market, and the financial forecast.  For the first round of the competition, only an executive summary of 1-2 pages is sufficient. Once entering the second round, students will have the opportunity to work with faculty mentors to write or polish the full business plans. The full business plans will be evaluated by a panel of judges.  The top five teams will be asked to present their business plans at the grand finale event on April 13, 2017.

The contest was developed to help students cultivate practical entrepreneurial skills including opportunity identification, product development, marketing, finance, public speaking and networking.  The program will give students an opportunity to work directly with faculty members and potential investors and enhance their understanding of what investors want to see in a business plan.

Contestants will compete for $10,000 in combined prizes.  To learn more about the competition visit www.kean.edu/bizplan.
