Kean KUBS Kicks Off Semester with High School Volleyball Clinic
Kean KUBS began its 2026-2027 calendar with a volleyball clinic hosted by two alumni
Kean University’s KUBS (Building Stronger Urban Communities) program kicked off its 2026-2027 events calendar on August 31 at Harwood Arena with a high school girls volleyball clinic led by alumni Ray Candiloro ’78, ’93 M.A. and Naveed Khawaja ’14.
The clinic brought together Kean alumni, current student-athletes, high school coaches and the next generation of volleyball players.
The event was led by Candiloro, currently the head coach of Roselle Park High School, and Khawaja, head coach at Union City High School, alongside Kean’s women’s volleyball team, the 2025 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) champions.
More than 80 high school volleyball players from Cranford, Long Branch, Payne Tech, Roselle Park, Union City and West Caldwell were in attendance and received coaching throughout the drills and competition. The event reflects KUBS’ mission of using athletics, mentorship and meaningful connections to introduce young athletes to Kean and higher-education opportunities.
The volleyball clinic is the first of several KUBS events planned for the year, with clinics in additional sports to be announced.
