Angeryca Concepcion made the most of her time at Kean

Angeryca Concepcion arrived at Kean University determined to make the most of every opportunity. Three years later, she will graduate with a degree in management and a minor in marketing.

“Since the beginning, I’ve been open to any chance to be involved,” Concepcion said. “Every opportunity when you’re a student should be explored.”

That mindset guided her experience. Through the Leadership Institute in the Center for Leadership and Service, she completed more than 150 hours of volunteer work focused on food insecurity as well as residence hall move-ins, blood donations and more.

During an alternative Spring Break trip to Washington, D.C., she spent a week volunteering at multiple food banks, an experience that deepened her understanding of the issue.

“Volunteering in Washington, D.C. gave me perspective on what some families are dealing with every day,” Concepcion said. “It helped me understand important issues and how I can contribute.”

Concepcion brought the same mindset to her academic work. As president of the Business Analytics Student Association, she helped create a space for students in her field while completing five research projects focused on STEM performance, analytics and consumer behavior.

Her work earned her honorable mention for Undergraduate Student Researcher of the Year at Kean’s 2026 Research Days.

“Beyond academics, Angeryca has given back to the Kean community in a meaningful way through her leadership,” said Assistant Professor Mohammad Golam Kibria, Ph.D. “She has helped build a space for peers to develop analytical skills and professional interests together. That kind of initiative reflects someone who isn't just here to earn a degree, but to leave the place better than she found it.”

Concepcion also gained experience beyond campus. As a marketing intern at PLM Fleet in Newark, she worked on branding, content creation and market research, applying what she learned in the classroom to a professional setting.

She also competed in L’Oréal Brandstorm 2026, where she helped develop a sustainable, biodegradable fragrance concept focused on environmental impact, and was recently inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society.

“Angeryca represents the very best of Kean University,” said Kerrin Lyles, vice president for Student Affairs. “She is among our brightest and most engaged students, completing over 100 hours of community service while consistently seeking meaningful ways to impact our campus and community.”

For Concepcion, the most meaningful part of her time at Kean comes down to the people she met along the way.

“The people I’ve met through volunteering, leadership and research made everything meaningful,” Concepcion said. “I will carry those relationships with me.”
