The Kean University Alumni Association has honored the memory of longtime board members Donna Madrigal and Anthony (Tony) Brennan, with a donation that will pay forward their dedication by providing scholarships to Kean students.

Madrigal, who was a resident of Union, earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Kean, in 1988 and 1991 respectively. Brennan, who resided in Barnegat, graduated in 1981. Both passed away this year.

“The Alumni Association has always been a great advocate in advancing the work of Kean University. The addition of The Donna Madrigal and The Tony Brennan Scholarships is not only a testament to the association’s generosity, but it also speaks to its dedication to the students,” said Bill Miller, CEO of the Kean University Foundation. “The Kean University Foundation is grateful for the Alumni Association’s support in both Donna and Tony’s names.”

The $10,000 donation from the Alumni Association will fund both The Donna Madrigal Scholarship and The Tony Brennan Scholarship, which will be awarded in the amount of $2,500 to two male and two female students who are active on campus and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

“With these new scholarships, the Alumni Association will honor two distinguished Board members. Donna and Tony served on the Alumni Board for over twenty years each. Their dedication to the students and Kean University will be remembered for a long time,” said Ed Esposito ’69, ’72 MA, president of the Kean University Alumni Association.
