The Team Approach to Learning

Two adults speak to the crowd.

At the Michael Graves College Thinking Creatively conference's Let's Charrette (L) and the Nathan Weiss Graduate College Grand Rounds (R), students from various academic disciplines worked together in real-world scenarios.

Students from a variety of disciplines teamed up at two recent events on Kean’s Union campus to put their classroom lessons into practice.

The 10th Annual Thinking Creatively Conference for Michael Graves College students included a daylong workshop called Let’s Charrette. Students from architecture, graphic design, interior design and industrial design worked in teams to create a multifaceted branding approach on a real-world project. They were asked to reimagine the U.S. Postal Service.

Across campus at Nathan Weiss Graduate College, the Fifth Annual Interprofessional Grand Rounds brought together teams of students from occupational therapy, physical therapy,  speech-language pathology, therapeutic recreation, social work and psychology to design a care and service plan for a fictional patient with a particularly challenging set of circumstances.

These hands-on experiences mirror the kind of interdisciplinary approach that Kean graduates will encounter in their professional careers.
