Learning Center
About the Learning Center
As an integral part of the EEO Program, the Learning Center is an all-purpose tutoring lab serving the academic needs of EEO students.
The Learning Center will teach EEO students the skills and strategies they need to help them become independent and active learners.
The Learning Center will collaborate with faculty to provide individual and small-group tutoring, supervised study, supplemental instruction as well as skills workshops to promote learning and a positive self-image.
Located on the fourth floor of Willis Hall, W-400 houses our tutoring center where EEO students go to receive one-on-one academic coaching by professional and student employees trained in offering nonjudgmental academic support. Academic coaches in the Learning Center are recruited for their excellent communication skills and expertise in a myriad of core disciplines including algebra, calculus, geometry, chemistry, psychology, sociology, literature and writing among many other disciplines. The aim is to provide quality tutoring services to students and encourage the development of learning strategies. Appointments are one-hour sessions that can be made via Tutortrac, phone or drop-in visit.
The Learning Center also houses a library of textbooks from various courses offered during the academic year. Students have access to our Learning Center Library in Willis 403, in which they can borrow and utilize textbooks for their classes. In addition to the Learning Center Library and Tutoring Lab, Willis 402 is designated as an events space for EEO students and counselors where programs, lectures, meetings and workshops are conducted.
