Introduction
This FAQs list is intended to help you to understand how to register for an online course, how to successfully get started and how to become a Kean Online student.
When/how can a student register for an online course?
Kean Online students can register for online courses when registration opens through KeanWise.
Non Kean Online students can register through KeanWise for online courses, as follows:
- When registration opens for any course not designated as: “Kean Online Students Only.”
- Five business days prior to the start of the semester for any course that does not require any special petitions/permissions or designated as “Kean Online Students only.”
All students should meet with their academic advisor prior to registration
How do I register for the second session after add/drop?
Complete the Registration Request Form and email to regme@kean.edu. All emails must come from your Kean email address.
How do I get to my online courses?
Online courses at Kean University are completely online through Blackboard and never meet in person. Your username and password is the same as your other Kean email login. Students who cannot access Blackboard should reach out to OCIS at (908)-737-6000.
When will I have access to my online course(s)?
Online courses become available to students on the official course start date.
How will I know what books I need for my online course(s)?
Books for all Online courses are listed in KeanWise where you search for sections or at the Kean Bookstore. It is highly advisable that students obtain the required books prior to the start of the class.
Are there any computer requirements to take a online course?
While it is not a requirement that a student own a computer, it is highly recommended. Consistent and reliable access to online courses is very important for a student to be successful. Students will be required to utilize MS Office. Any computer being used for the purpose of taking an online course should have this software. There are also some courses that will require you to have a camera and a microphone.
Does an online course cost more money than a traditional in-person course?
Online courses are the same per-credit tuition rate as traditional in-person courses. Students are encouraged to work with Student Accounting and the Financial Aid Office on any questions related to paying for their education.
Will the school send me information about my Online course?
Any notifications will be sent to your Kean email. It is important that you check your email daily so that you do not miss any important updates especially prior to the start of a session or semester.
If I am an in-person student and I wish to take classes online can I?
Yes, an in-person student can take online classes. However they can only register for online classes 5 days before classes start.
If I am an Online student can I take in-person classes?
Yes, however the majority of your classes must be taken online. "
How do I become a Kean Online Student?
Once you have confirmed that your program is offered online, complete the Change of Location Form.
