Timeline

✔  March 5, 2025: The NJCU Board of Trustees voted to pursue a strategic merger with Kean.

✔  May 15, 2025: Kean and NJCU signed a letter of intent to pursue a merger.

✔  July 1, 2025: The Shared Services Agreement between Kean and NJCU became effective.

✔  Summer 2025: Kean and NJCU submitted preliminary forms to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the accrediting agency for both institutions, to initiate a review process.

✔  October 1, 2025: Kean and NJCU signed a definitive agreement outlining the terms and conditions of the merger.

✔  October 29, 2025: Kean submitted more detailed plans for the integration to Middle States.

✔  November 2025: NJCU submitted additional plans for the integration to Middle States.

✔  April 23, 2026: Middle States advances the merger.

◻ July 1, 2026: Kean will acquire control of NJCU. All NJCU employees become Kean employees.

◻ August 2026: Upon review of the U.S. Department of Education, the merger will be complete. All NJCU students become Kean students.
