The Trauma Response Team is an interdisciplinary team trained in response to traumatic incidents that directly impact members of the Kean community by providing internal support to an individual or affected group.

Mission

The Trauma Response Team at Kean University is committed to providing timely, compassionate, and evidence‑based Psychological First Aid to individuals and groups impacted by urgent and distressing incidents within our community. Through an interdisciplinary approach, we aim to promote emotional resilience, support recovery, and promote a culture of care and wellbeing.

Vision

To strengthen the cougar community through timely and professional care by providing support, resources, and empowerment to recovery.

Goals

 

  • Advance our mission by providing internal support to the members of the Kean community in alignment with our charge from the Office of the President.
  • Maintain active engagement with leading trauma organizations, such as the International Trauma Center, to remain informed by utilizing the most current research and best practices in the field.
  • Convene strategically in response to critical incidents to gather comprehensive information, assess campus impact, and ensure a coordinated and effective response.
  • Host monthly meetings to strengthen the visibility of the Trauma Response Team, foster ongoing professional development, and enhance our capacity to deliver evidence-based care.
