Kean University offers a forward-looking Computer Science undergraduate program designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving technology landscape. With access to state-of-the-art computing labs and collaborative research experiences, students explore innovative fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, mobile sensing, natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), cloud-edge computing, and software engineering.
Our curriculum emphasizes both theory and hands-on practice, empowering students to design intelligent systems, analyze complex data, and develop secure and efficient computing solutions. Students can tailor their studies through specialized options, including Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
Kean also offers an accelerated B.S./M.S. 5-year program, enabling motivated students to earn both undergraduate and graduate degrees efficiently while gaining valuable co-op and internship experience in leading industries and research labs.
Undergraduate | Bachelor of Science
- B.S. in Computer Science – Students enrolled in Kean’s Computer Science program gain a strong foundation in algorithms, programming, system design, and user centered computing to prepare for careers in software engineering, research, and emerging technologies.
- B.S. in Computer Science | Information Systems – This option bridges computing and business, equipping students to design, implement, and manage information systems that support data-driven decision-making and innovation.
- B.S. in Computer Science | Cybersecurity – The Cybersecurity option provides hands-on experience in identifying, analyzing, and defending against cyber threats to protect data, networks, and critical systems in a wide range of environments.
- B.S. in Computer Science | Data Science – In this data-centric option, students learn to analyze, model, and visualize complex datasets, applying statistical methods and analytical tools to solve real-world problems.
- B.S. in Artificial Intelligence – The first undergraduate Artificial Intelligence degree in New Jersey, preparing students to design intelligent systems, build autonomous technologies, and innovate in autonomous systems, trustworthy AI, and data-driven decision-making.
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science (5-Year Program) – This accelerated five-year program allows motivated students to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Computer Science, gaining advanced skills in AI, cybersecurity, software and system design.
- Minor in Computer Science – Students from any major can strengthen their technical and analytical skills by learning the fundamentals of programming, algorithms, and computational thinking to apply technology-driven solutions in their fields.
- Minor in Artificial Intelligence – Open to all majors, this minor introduces the foundations of artificial intelligence, including machine learning, neural networks, and intelligent systems, preparing students to develop and apply AI tools and methods in a wide range of areas.
- Minor in Data Science – Open to all majors, this minor provides essential skills in data analytics, modeling, and visualization, enabling students to turn data into insight and support better decision making in their chosen discipline.
