Kean University Offers New Jersey's First
Undergraduate AI Degree Program
B.S. in Artificial Intelligence Degree Launched
Students at Kean University now have the opportunity to earn an undergraduate degree in Artificial Intelligence. Kean is the first university in New Jersey and one of the few across the United States to offer this innovative major, which launched this fall.
The B.S. AI major in the Department of Computer Science and Technology emphasizes both theoretical concepts and practical skills essential for careers in AI. The curriculum features coursework in machine learning, data science, deep learning, and responsible AI development. To quote Kean's President, Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D., “We are evolving both what we teach and how we teach it to prepare our students for a world where technology, creativity, and human ingenuity work hand in hand.”
Kean Faculty Attend Google's GenAI Consortium
Google’s GenAI Summit was held in San Diego, CA in August 2025. Dr. Kuan Huang attended, representing the Computing Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institutions (CAHSI)'s North Region, and Kean's Department of Computer Science & Technology. The national GenAI Summit focused on integrating generative AI into computer science education, especially in foundational courses such as programming languages, to strengthen curricula and enhance student learning. Further national collaboration is expected for all faculty in the future.
As part of the fall series on career and internship preparation, Kean's student chapter of the ACM hosted a presentation by CrowdStrike, an AI powered cybersecurity firm. Attending (left to right) are Anthony Bayate, Jr (CS '26), Matthew McAbee (CrowdStrike Manager of Incident Response), Maryam Ahmed (ACM President, CS Data Science '26) and David Feldman (CrowdStrike Intelligence Analyst).

Announcing the PhD in Computer Science
Kean's Department of Computer and Technology has launched a Ph.D. in Computer Science degree, available for students in Fall 2025. The first cohort is off to a great start! The Ph.D. joins the M.S. Computer Science as a research-focused program, designed to address the national need for research innovation and teaching excellence.
Building on Kean's undergraduate research engagement and faculty mentoring expertise, graduate students are following a cohort model and receive faculty mentoring in both research and teaching methodology.
Take the next step in your tech journey and apply!
