Prior to registering for classes, you must receive academic advisement. Schedule advisement by logging in to the accepted student tab in the Cougar App Portal. Prepare for your advisement appointment by logging in to KeanWISE to access your Program Evaluation for review with your Advisor (see access instructions in step 2).
Continuing Transfer Students (Currently enrolled at Kean)
The Center for Advising, Persistence and Success (CAPS) advises currently enrolled transfer students with less than 60 credits. Students with 60 credits or more are assigned to a faculty advisor within their academic major.
Transfer Students Reminders and Special Considerations
Transfer students with 30 credits or more are encouraged to take GE*3000 in their first semester at Kean University to successfully acclimate into the Kean community.
* Students with less than 30 credits are required to take GE 1000.
Review your transfer equivalency to ensure that all credits were evaluated. For questions regarding the transfer evaluation, email transfer@kean.edu
Make sure you submit final transcripts for all institutions attended.
It is suggested that all appointments be booked 24-48 hours in advance.
How to Prepare for an Academic Advising session with CAPS?
During your appointment, your CAPS Advisor will go over degree requirements, your academic course map, as well as discuss major/minor requirements. To ensure that your advising session is productive, here are a few things you’ll need to do before your appointment:
Review your Course Map in Student Planner prior to your meeting
Define 1-2 academic goals that you have for the upcoming semester
Seek guidance on co-curricular activities that Kean has to offer such as internships and leadership development opportunities
