Teaching Philosophy

I am keenly aware of how literary studies prepare students for a cohesive analytical perspective as they continue to gain experience while working towards their degree. It is important that professors inject new theories and ideas into class assignments to further enhance their critical thinking. Therefore, my teaching style is based on lectures that help shape students’ awareness of the world around them and give them the tools to analyze and critique their surroundings. Research assignments place them in positions of agency and give them the hardware to build a good foundation for advanced research methods.

The best part about teaching at Kean University

The diversity is the best part about teaching at Kean. Students come to my classroom with different backgrounds, sets of experiences and cultural contexts. Their varied world views enrich my knowledge as well as my personal experience. Diversity is conducive to learning and teaching.
