Advising Process
Application for Clinical Internship Timeline: Clinical 1 fieldwork must be applied for the semester before. Application dates for fall and spring are provided at the link here. An application is not needed for Clinical 2.
*This Academic Advisors page is current up to Fall 2023. We are currently working hard to update with the most recent/up to date information to help you support your students. If you have a time sensitive question, please email coepo@kean.edu Thank you.
In addition to supporting students through the advising process specific to which courses a student should take and when, preparing your students for Clinical I and Clinical II field placements can take a lot of time and attention. Below are factors to consider when identifying whether or not your advisee is eligible to apply for Clinical Field Placement:
-
Did they pass the necessary PRAXIS examinations for Clinical I and/or Clinical II?
-
Are they active in or have they already completed the appropriate prerequisite courses with the required minimum passing grade?
-
Are they in a declared education major?
-
Do they have a 3.0 GPA?
-
Students eligible for Clinical I in the fall semester will receive an application mid to late March. Students eligible for Clinical I in the spring semester will receive an application early November.
-
Students who are eligible for Clinical II do not need to apply. The Office of Student Placement and Clinical Experiences will automatically coordinate a placement for the upcoming term pending all other requirements are met to advance.
If a student, who is eligible for Clinical I field placement, does not receive an application by the published dates, they should email Ms. Karen Grove at coepo@kean.edu to request an application. Once approved, an application will be launched to the student through Anthology/Chalk & Wire.
