Kean Launches KeanU AI to Power Artificial Intelligence Use Across Campus

KeanU AI provides Kean University with a fully-integrated AI platform

Kean University has launched KeanU AI, a custom-built artificial intelligence (AI) platform tailored to drive innovation and meet the dynamic needs of students, faculty and staff with faster access to information, smarter tools and a more personalized digital experience.

KeanU AI provides the campus community with an AI platform fully integrated with Kean’s technology, allowing users to access several of the latest AI language learning models (LLMs) while keeping information inside the University’s ecosystem.

KeanU AI, named after Kean’s cougar mascot, further positions Kean as a pioneer in AI technology, following the University’s launch of New Jersey’s first Bachelor of Science in artificial intelligence, one of the few nationwide, alongside a Ph.D. in computer science and a new Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence.

“Kean is committed to staying at the forefront of technological innovation,” said Kean President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. “KeanU AI represents how we are thoughtfully embracing AI to support our campus community and prepare students for a rapidly evolving future.”

Users can interact with official KeanU AI agents, similar to chatbots, or create their own personal agents powered by OpenAI, which runs ChatGPT, Anthropic and Microsoft CoPilot.

The Office of Information Technology (IT) unveiled the new tool as Early Access for the entire campus and will shift to Beta Access with more released agents in the Spring 2026 semester.

Users must log in with their Kean Credentials to access the system at keanuai.kean.edu

“KeanU AI is a secure tool designed to help our community work smarter,” said Greg Bellotti, Kean’s vice president for information technology. “By keeping all data inside Kean’s systems and offering role-specific capabilities, we’re giving users the power of AI while maintaining privacy and trust.”

IT will host information sessions and comprehensive training for both introductory users and advanced users, along with workshops about building personal agents.

To enroll in information sessions and trainings, members of the Kean community can visit the Kean IT training calendar
