UNION, N.J. – Students from the Kean University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) recently partnered with Hip New Jersey, a Montclair-based public relations, marketing and special events firm, on a fundraising campaign for Trinitas Regional Medical Center's new emergency department. The campaign, #GivingTuesday, concluded on November 29 with a Facebook Live event hosted by celebrity guests Gloria Gaynor, Ottis Anderson, Joe Piscopo and N.J. Burkett.

“The Trinitas Health Foundation is thrilled to embark on this grassroots effort,” said Nadine Brechner, vice president of the Trinitas Health Foundation. “Funds raised will help with the building of the new 24,000 square foot space, which will increase capacity, reduce overcrowding, enhance patient care and meet the needs of the community.”

Kean PRSSA chapter members hosted “pop-up parties” each Tuesday in November at The Mall at Short Hills and on Kean’s Union campus, raising awareness and donations for Trinitas’ new addition. The participating students had the opportunity to gain hands-on campaign planning experience, working alongside representatives from Hip New Jersey to draft press materials and brainstorm social media content.

“In addition to supporting a great community partner in this season of giving, this collaborative campaign provided our students with a very unique professional development opportunity,” said Jeremiah Sullivan, a Kean University lecturer and PRSSA faculty adviser.
