As a full-time or part-time degree-seeking student, you’re eligible for 25% off NJ TRANSIT monthly passes for rail, bus, or light rail travel. It’s easy to sign up and start saving!
How to Enroll:
- Log into MyCougar
- Find the “NJ Transit Discount Ticket” card
- If this card is not under “My Account” page, click on View all cards,
Then scroll down or use the search bar (top left) to find it.
- Click the “First-Time Enrollment” link

4. Complete the registration form
5. Verify your Kean student email
6. Download the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App


7. Purchase your discounted Student Monthly Pass through the app
When to Buy:
Passes may be purchased from the 19th of the preceding month through the 10th of the month that the pass is valid.
Do I have to renew my Student Pass account at any time?
At the beginning of each academic period, you should renew your student status through MyCougar and then purchase your Mobile Student Monthly Pass in the NJ Transit app.
How to reactivate my account:
- Log into MyCougar
- Find the “NJ Transit Discount Ticket” card
- If this card is not under “My Account” page, click on View all cards,

- Click the “Activate student pass” link

- Log in to your existing account
- Verify your Kean student email
- Log in to the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App
- Purchase your discounted Student Monthly Pass through the app

Internship Policy
Student interns that attend an NJ TRANSIT accredited school in New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania may purchase a student monthly pass if the internship is through the school as part of the program to obtain a degree, and it is an unpaid internship. Students must submit a letter, written on the school letterhead stating that the internship is a required part of the school program to obtain the student's degree.
It's important to remember:
Students who participate in this program agree that the monthly pass is for their exclusive use only. Each student is eligible to receive one discounted monthly pass per month. Passes are non-transferable. Any abuse or purposeful deception will result in the cancellation of the student's monthly pass account, and (s)he will be unable to participate in the program in the future. This will also apply to any other student who is knowingly involved.
