Professional Diploma Assistantships and Fellowships

Kean University's Professional Diploma program in School Psychology is committed to supporting its graduate students on their academic journey by offering a variety of funding opportunities. These options include Graduate Assistant (GA) positions, training fellowships that provide a tuition waiver and stipend to support student training within local public schools, and Kean University Scholarships. We understand that financing your education is essential, and our comprehensive funding options aim to ease the financial burden while you focus on your doctoral studies.

Kean BeWell Mental Health Fellowship Training Program

Fellows receive 1-2 years of training support, gaining clinical experiences within school settings, along with a full tuition waiver and stipend. This opportunity is made possible through the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant Program, generously awarded to our program by the United States Department of Education.

Graduate Assistantship (GA)

  • Typically awarded to 3-4 entering students each year
  • Covers tuition and provides a stipend over both years of residency (Years 1 and 2 of the program)
  • Includes academic year and summer funding
  • Students gain work and experience within different offices and centers across the university in
  • exchange for 15-20 hours per week of work

Mental Health Service Fellowships (MHSF)

  • Typically awarded to 6 entering students per year, in years 2 and 3 of the program
  • Provides a tuition waiver and a stipend to support training during the externship and internship years (Years 2 and 3)
  • Embeds clinical work and training experiences within partnering school districts (Union Township and Belleville Public Schools)

Kean Scholarships

  • Available to all students, including incoming students
  • Scholarships can provide financial support of up to approximately $6,000
  • Application deadlines typically fall in March
