Professor Thomas J Metz has devoted 40 plus years to the corporate world focusing in financial services, accounting, entertainment and consulting. Throughout his career he has taught in adjunct positions at various universities, instructing at Kean from 2008-2020. In 2020, Mr. Metz accepted a Lecturer position at Kean University. His focused approach to bringing his business experience into the classroom is a true passion.
He sees himself as a teacher primarily, but also apprenticed in business roles where he worked in management positions both domestically and internationally. Working internationally and experiencing the business culture of Hong Kong, Paris and London first-hand provided significant influence in shaping his balanced view of global business and the interrelationship of world economies. His diverse background and business affiliations bring the academics to life in his classroom and makes the world of learning that much more interesting.

Jianing (Jade) Fang, DPS

Dr. Jianing (Jade) Fang, CPA, CITP, earned his B.A. in Economics and Accounting and Information Systems with high honors in 1986 from Queens College, CUNY. He passed the CPA examinations and was certified in 1990. He earned his M.S. in Taxation in 1993 from Washington School of Law and his DPS (Doctor of Professional Studies) in 2006 from Pace University. His research interests focus on Accounting Pedagogy, Accounting and Auditing Standard Compliance, Accounting for Goodwill, Asset Valuation, and Business Ethics. In the seventeen years before joining Kean University, Jade taught Accounting Capstone, Accounting Information Systems, Advanced Auditing, Advanced Financial Accounting, Auditing, Cost Accounting, Financial Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis, Intermediate Accounting, International Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Managerial Finance, and Taxation at Long Island University, Pace University, Iona College and Marist College.

James Capone, Assistant Professor

Professor Capone received his B.A. in Government from Georgetown University. In college he served as an aide to United States Senator the Honorable Clifford P. Case (R. NJ). Professor Capone also completed his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law and his MBA in Accounting from the Rutgers Graduate School of Management. He is a member of New Jersey Bar Association.
After graduating from Rutgers, Professor Capone practiced accounting with then Big 8 Accounting firm Coopers and Lybrand, now Price Waterhouse Coopers, in New York City. He is also a veteran, having served on active duty in the U.S. Army with the rank of Captain. One of his assignments was as Adjutant of the 4th Squadron of the 7th United States Cavalry. General George Armstrong Custer once commanded this unit.
After his military service, he practiced law in Westfield and Hackettstown and served as Township attorney for Liberty Township (Warren County). He also was the Planning Board Attorney for Stanhope Boro (Sussex County).
Professor Capone’s academic career began at Kean University in 1974, and he attained the rank of Full Professor of Business Law and Accountancy in 2002. He is a founding member of the Accounting Department and later helped to establish the M.S. in accounting program. He served as Chairman of the Department of Management Science and later as Chairman of the Department of Accounting and Coordinator for the M.S. in Accounting. Professor Capone was also selected “Teacher of the Year” by Alpha Kappa Psi in 1982 and in 2002 by the Kean Student Accounting Society. He also directed the Kean University School of Real Estate and was elected eight times as Treasurer of the Kean Federation of Teachers.
Professor James Capone’s community interests include serving as Councilman for two terms on the Westfield Town Council where he also chaired the Finance Committee. Later he served as President of the Westfield Memorial Library Board of Trustees. He was also a Director of the Westfield Baseball League for four years.

Bilal Al Dah, Ph.D., Assistant Professor

Bilal Al Dah, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Kean University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Accounting from Durham University Business School in the United Kingdom where he examined the effect of shareholder rights on the relationship between governance mechanisms and firm performance. Bilal has extensive teaching experience having previously taught courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, financial statement analysis, and accounting analytics whilst teaching at the American University of Beirut and Savannah State University.
