Kean celebrated African-American history and culture with a stirring and joyful Juneteenth Jamboree on the Union campus. Hosted by the Center for Africana Studies, the University’s inaugural Juneteenth event began with a Freedom Walk and included moving speeches, prayer and a standing-room-only crowd sharing the day that marks the end of slavery in the United States.

International recording and performing artist Celil Refik Kaya, DMA, will give a solo recital as part of Guitarfest, which will also feature performances by the New Jersey Music Educators Association Honors Guitar Ensemble, the New Jersey Guitar Orchestra, the New Jersey Guitar Quartet, high school guitar ensembles, and a flute and guitar duo.
