The website, which provides education resources for aspiring counselors and psychologists, recognized the strength of Kean’s faculty, staff and students, and considered factors such as graduation rates, selectivity and the variety of courses offered.

“Kean University’s psychology graduate programs prepare students for valuable careers, and our graduates fill a much-needed role for mental health professionals in our communities,” said Kean University President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. “Kean is helping to diversify mental health and other related industries, and this top national ranking supports us in that effort.”

Kean was also recently ranked number 26 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for the social mobility of its students. The University is New Jersey’s urban research university and is an aspiring R2 research institution.

Kean Associate Professor Richard Conti, Ph.D., coordinator of the University’s forensic psychology program, called it “an honor for our program to be ranked so highly.”

There are 64 students enrolled in the master’s program, he said. Graduates go on to careers in law enforcement agencies and clinical mental health settings, or pursue doctorate degrees in psychology or law.

“The collaboration between our diverse faculty and students is the hallmark of our success as we not only assist our students in their studies, but guide them in their future careers as well,” Conti said.

CounselingPsychology.org considered in-person, hybrid and online programs in forensic psychology to arrive at the rankings.
