Spring and Summer I 2021 study abroad programs are suspended. The Center for International Studies will continue to monitor the situation following guidance from the Department of State, CDC and New Jersey Department of Health.
Our study abroad program allows students to continue working toward their degree while living overseas for a full academic year or a single semester. In doing so, students grow intellectually, develop inter-cultural skills, and learn foreign languages.
To study abroad, you must meet the minimum GPA requirement in the semester prior to your intended stay abroad. In general, students must have a 2.8 cumulative GPA at the time of the program application deadline. You must also be of at least sophomore standing to participate in the study abroad experience. However, check with individual programs for any other requirements.
The following is a list of current providers. Please check with the Center for International Studies to confirm eligibility.
- American Institute for Foreign Study
- Academic Programs International
- International Studies Abroad
- The Education Abroad Network
- Semester at Sea
Most students need some form of financial aid to study abroad. Your campus Financial Aid Office will consider you as eligible when you study abroad through any of the programs offered by Kean University. Your study abroad coordinator will work with you and with the Office of Financial Aid in determining your study abroad budget.
