The Center for Training and Capacity Building at Kean University's John S. Watson Institute is dedicated to enhancing the impact and sustainability of organizations and leaders serving urban communities across New Jersey. 

Our team is united by a shared commitment to service, civic leadership and giving back. We bring decades of applied experience to support individuals and institutions working to strengthen their communities through advocacy, education and public engagement. 

Our educational programs and consultancy services equip nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and public institutions with strategic training, development tools, and resources to expand civic participation and drive social impact.

The Center offers a modular curriculum designed to strengthen organizational capacity, develop effective leadership, and deepen community engagement. Each training module is a self-contained unit focused on a specific topic, skill set or objective. Modules can be taken individually or as part of a series, offering flexible, customizable pathways for different needs.
