What Will You Learn as a Media Arts Major?

You will build the creative, technical and analytical skills needed to produce, analyze and refine media across formats and platforms, including:

  • Foundations of visual composition, sound design and media storytelling
  • Media writing for film, video and digital platforms
  • Audio, video, film and digital media production techniques
  • Exploration of diverse creative, stylistic and production approaches
  • Film and media history, theory and critical analysis
  • Analysis of media within historical, cultural and social contexts
  • Development of advanced media projects across digital media, such as animation, game design, film, media studies, sound and video

Students can partner with faculty or to conduct their own original research, resulting in a professional master’s thesis or research papers that can be submitted for publication or from which can then be applied to presentations at national conferences.
