Secondary Education—Teacher Certification, MAT

Prepare to teach at the secondary level through a flexible graduate program designed for aspiring educators with a strong foundation in their chosen subject area. The Secondary Education—Teacher Certification, MAT combines online coursework with hands-on clinical experiences to equip students for success in middle and high school classrooms.

Designed for full- and part-time students, the program emphasizes effective instruction, inclusive teaching practices and meaningful classroom experience. Students may pursue certification in English, mathematics, science, social studies or Spanish, with science options that include biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics and physical science.

Graduates who complete the certification portion of the program are eligible for a Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) in New Jersey within their specific secondary content area.
