Biography

Dr. Abootaleb Shirvani is an accomplished Assistant Professor at the Dorothy and George Hennings College of Science, Mathematics, and Technology. He earned his Ph.D. in mathematics with a concentration in statistics from Texas Tech University in 2021, following a master's degree in actuarial mathematics from Illinois State University.

Dr. Shirvani's research interests span a wide spectrum of quantitative disciplines, including derivative pricing and hedging, econometrics, actuarial mathematics, quantitative modeling, statistical modeling, stochastic processes, machine learning, portfolio construction, and risk management. His academic journey has been marked by a profound commitment to advancing the field of mathematics and its practical applications.

Throughout his career, Dr. Shirvani has made significant contributions to the academic community. He is a prolific author with publications in prestigious peer-reviewed journals such as Econometric Reviews, Journal of Derivatives, International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance, and Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting.

In 2022, Dr. Shirvani authored the book "Advanced REIT Portfolio Optimization: Innovative Tools for Risk Management," which was published by Springer Nature. This comprehensive work reflects his expertise in financial modeling and risk assessment.

As an educator, Dr. Shirvani is dedicated to enriching the academic experience of his students. He has taught a diverse range of courses, including Calculus II, Mathematical Software, Probability & Mathematical Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Mathematical Models for Economics and Finance, and specialized topics in Quantitative Finance.
