Dr. Effie Christie is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Secondary Education and an M.A. and Ed.D. from Seton Hall University in Administration and Supervision. She has held positions in the Philadelphia and NJ public schools as a high school teacher, principal, supervisor of bilingual/ESL, associate/assistant superintendent, and superintendent. The NJDOE hired her as the coordinator of the Urban Initiative, where she oversaw programs in 52 districts. Dr. Christie also served her community in Mendham, NJ as an elected board member for three terms. As an expert in second-language acquisition, Dr. Christie testified in Abbott v. Burke on behalf of New Jersey’s bilingual students. She has held positions as an academic dean at a for-profit junior college and as a coordinator of early childhood and teacher education at Passaic County Community College. Currently, she is the coordinator of the doctoral program at Kean University. 

Dr. Christie has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics in both K12 and higher education. Her most recent publication is a book that began as a doctoral class project, Democracy at risk: A reflective review of the educational backgrounds of the capitol rioters, published by Peter Lang Publishers.
