Meet Our Staff
Viviana Zambrano is the Director for the Office for Student Retention and Educational Innovation. As a two-time Seton Hall University graduate, Viviana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Education in Counseling.
Prior to joining Kean University, she worked as a Counselor/Academic Advisor in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOF) at Montclair State University. Viviana has also worked with the EOF programs at Seton Hall University and Rutgers University. In addition, she served as Chair of the Emergency Assistance Fund and as a State Schools Sector Representative on the Educational Opportunity Fund Professional Association Board (EOFPANJ).

Viviana is an alumna of Upward Bound and EOF Programs. She understands the importance of mentorship and is a strong advocate for college access, especially for First Generation College students.
When she's not working, Viviana loves to read, go to Broadway shows, and spend time with her family.
Christopher Sclafani, Ph.D., serves as the Student Success Coordinator in the Office for Student Retention & Educational Innovation at Kean University. A proud two-time Kean alumnus, Dr. Sclafani earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the university and has been a dedicated member of the Kean community since 2019. Dr. Sclafani also holds a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
In his role, Dr. Sclafani leads initiatives related to students looking to return to the university after some time away, so that they can persist and graduate from Kean University. In addition to his role, Dr. Sclafani is an Instructor for the Department of Psychology, teaching both graduate-level and undergraduate-level courses such as Advanced Research Methods in Psychology, Advanced Social Psychology, Psychology of Aging, I/O Psychology, Group Dynamics, Psychology of Adolescence, Organizational Behavior, and Transition to Kean (T2K). Dr. Sclafani also serves as the Treasurer for NJAIR, the New Jersey Association for Institutional Research, where he works with institutional effectiveness, assessment, and data analysts from across the state to further advance knowledge among professionals.
Before this role, Dr. Sclafani served as the Graduate Assistant in the Office for Student Retention, supporting various retention-related initiatives and developing new programs for the Kean Community. Dr. Sclafani also served as a Kean University Board of Trustees member, working directly under the Chief of Staff out of the President's Office. Additionally, Dr. Sclafani was a Project Manager for the Vice President of Student Affairs, working on several initiatives that contributed to the strategic, mission-focused efforts to support student success.
Outside of work, Dr. Sclafani enjoys reading research, spending time with loved ones, traveling, and attending Broadway shows in New York City.
Jayne Nazario serves as a Student Success Coordinator in the Office for Student Retention & Educational Innovation at Kean University.
Prior to joining Kean University, she worked at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach FL as an Academic Advisor for the College of Arts & Sciences. Prior to academic advising, Jayne worked as a Dual Enrollment Advisor and as a Financial Aid Specialist at Embry-Riddle.
As a first-generation college graduate, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Leo University and a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Leadership from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Jayne is committed to supporting students throughout their academic journey through to graduation, she focuses each encounter on ensuring students are supported, connected and empowered.
Outside of work, Jayne enjoys listening to audiobooks, crafting, spending time with her two cats and hanging out with family.
