Winter Storm

Due to the recent winter storm, all classes and activities at Kean’s main campus in Union, Kean Ocean and Kean Skylands will operate remotely on Monday, January 26. 

The University will observe a Winter Wellness Day on Tuesday, January 27, following the storm. Classes and activities will not run, and employees are not expected to work. 

Only essential personnel should report to work as scheduled during the remote period or on Tuesday. Employees with questions about their status should consult their supervisor. 

Keanu’s Kitchen will remain open for residential students on the Union campus from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday.

In Kean’s joint program with Rutgers University as a clinical lab science major, you prepare to safeguard public health, serve as a valuable member of a clinical team, detect the presence or absence of disease, and provide data that helps physicians determine treatment options.

Kean clinical lab science graduates can be found working in challenging and exciting careers at hospitals, forensic labs, biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical companies and veterinary clinics, supporting excellence in health care treatment and diagnosis.

What Will You Learn as a Clinical Lab Science Major?

  • Complete coursework in chemistry, biology, microbiology, math and statistics
  • Practice laboratory skills, safety procedures and lab management
  • Analyze bodily fluids and tissue samples and record findings
  • Gain knowledge and skills in diagnostic testing, research, information management, marketing and administration
  • Receive hands-on training and operate sophisticated laboratory equipment in state-of-the-art facilities
  • Develop a professional network through real-world experience

For required certification, students must take the American Society for Clinical Pathology Exam after finishing the program.
