What You Learn

Sport and Event Management

The Sport and Event Management program provides students with fundamental knowledge and skills in management, marketing, finance and law. Sport and event management positions can be found in professional sports teams, athletic departments, golf courses, event management organizations, and sports and fitness facilities. In addition, Kean University has partnerships with the New York Jets, New York Red Bulls, and New Jersey Devils, providing students with access to possible career opportunities with professional sports teams.

Community Recreation

Community Recreation coursework emphasizes administration, leadership, program planning, budgeting, managerial techniques and environmental awareness. Graduates can expect to find employment in municipal recreation departments, state and national parks, campus recreation settings, camps, and nonprofit agencies. They also are eligible for certification as Certified Park and Recreation Professionals (CPRP).

You can strengthen your specialization with a minor in athletic coaching, public administration, management, marketing or communication.
