Sport and Event Management

The Sport and Event Management program provides students with fundamental knowledge and skills regarding management, marketing, finance, and legal aspects of the sport and event fields. Sport and event management positions may be found in professional sports teams, athletic departments, golf courses, event management organizations, and sports and fitness facilities.

Community Recreation

Community Recreation graduates assume leadership and supervisory roles in municipal and nonprofit community-recreation settings. Coursework emphasizes administration, leadership, program planning, budgeting, managerial techniques, and environmental awareness. Graduates may expect to find employment in municipal recreation departments, state and national parks, campus recreation settings, camps, and nonprofit agencies, such as YWCAs, YMCAs, and Boys and Girls Clubs. They also are eligible for certification as Certified Park and Recreation Professionals (CPRP). You can strengthen your specialization with a minor in athletic coaching, public administration, management, marketing, or communication.
