John Laski, DBA
Dr. John Nelson Laski is a Tenured Full Professor of Finance and International Management at Kean University [AACSB], College of Business and Public Policy, having been a tenured full professor at New Jersey City University [ACBSP] in similar capacities for the Management Department and was the founding developer of the MBA Program at NJCU.
Dr. Laski was previously an Associate Professor of Finance and International Business and founding Director of the MBA Program at Alliance University (formerly Nyack College) [IACBE] Graduate School of Business, in Nyack New York and New York City.
Dr. Laski received his Doctorate in Finance along with a post doc second specialization in International Management from Nova Southeastern University [AACSB]. Dr. Laski’s MBA in Finance is from St. Thomas Aquinas College [IACBE], his undergraduate B.S. in Organizational Management with distinction is from Alliance University. In 1980, Dr. Laski received an A.S. in Criminal Justice from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. [IACBE]
Dr. Laski is a published author, having published several works including “Capitalism and Christianity: A Moral and Ethical Struggle,” in 2008, “Shantytown” in 2012, and his most recent book, “The Communist Republic of New Jersey” in 2018.
Dr. Laski spent 7 years on active duty with the U.S. Navy, partly during the Viet Nam conflict, 6 years at the Center for War Gaming, U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI.
Dr. Laski has worked in business internationally, having been V.P. and National Sales Manager for UVA Machine Company of Bromma, Sweden, and in both sales and engineering capacities for Marubeni Corporation one of the largest trading companies in Japan, and the 3rd largest trading company in the world.
Dr. Laski spent ten years working in various finance and investment capacities for Merrill Lynch, Citicorp, and Northeast Securities, and was Vice President for Investments with Northeast Securities, holding a series 7, series 24, series 63 as well as New York and New Jersey, Life, Health and Annuity licenses.
Dr. Laski is a New Jersey Certified Business Administrator and is a Certified Manufacturing Engineer with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).
Dr. Laski is a former Battalion Chief for the Upper Greenwood Lake Fire Company in West Milford Township, is a former part of the West Milford Search and Rescue Team and received the Passaic County Medal of Honor for saving the lives of three people in an ice rescue on Greenwood Lake.
Dr. Laski spent eight years as Commissioner to the Passaic County Planning Board, several years as an Assistant Scoutmaster, and is a member of St. Johns Lodge No. 1, AF&AM, Newport, RI. Dr. Laski is married with five children and attends Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, and Saint John Kanty Roman Catholic Church in Clifton, NJ.
