Mary J. Kleban, PT, DPT, Ph.D.
Dr. Kleban has worked as a physical therapist since 2008 in many settings, including acute rehab, aquatics, subacute rehab, outpatient, assisted living, skilled nursing, and home care. During this time, she mentored many students and new clinical professionals from various backgrounds. Prior to joining the Kean University Department of Physical Therapy as a full-time assistant professor, she was an adjunct in the Departments of Physical Therapy at Columbia University and Kean University.
Dr. Kleban's Ph.D. dissertation focused on exploring the relationship between burnout and ethical decision making in physical therapists. Her research will continue to investigate the impact of burnout on physical therapists and other healthcare providers. Additionally, Dr. Kleban is interested in bridging the gap between healthcare providers and the needs of the ever-growing geriatric population, with a focus on health literacy. Dr. Kleban will be collaborating to present an Educational Session at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) entitled "Empowering Older Adults: A Multidisciplinary Concussion Care Plan for Lasting Recovery" in February.
