EOF Transfer Admissions
EOF Transfer Application Process
Welcome, EOF Transfer Applicants
The Kean University EOF Program welcomes transfer applications from former EOF scholars as well as transfer students who are interested in joining EOF for the first time.
Students transferring to Kean University and seeking EOF support should apply as an “EOF Transfer” student. Kean’s EOF Program serves students at two campus locations: Kean Union and Kean Jersey City.
When submitting your Kean University application, select the campus where you intend to take your classes. Your selected campus will determine which EOF office receives and reviews your application. Please complete the EOF application and submit all required documents to that campus’s EOF Program.
***Fall 2026 Kean Jersey City EOF Transfer Applicants***
As part of the transition from New Jersey City University to the new Kean Jersey City campus, all students interested in applying for the Kean Jersey City Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program for Fall 2026 must complete the updated application process below.
Required steps
- Complete the 2026–2027 Kean University EOF Application.
- In the application, select:
- Application Status: New Transfer Student
- Semester Applying For: Fall 2026
- Campus Location Applying For: Jersey City
- Students who have previously participated in EOF should ask their current or previous institution to send an EOF Transfer Form to: EOFtransferKJC@kean.edu
Students without a prior history in EOF may also submit all required application documents to the same email address.
Important notice for former NJCU applicants
If you started the transfer application process when the institution was operating as New Jersey City University, please complete these steps even if you previously submitted an EOF application or EOF Transfer Form. This updated process is necessary to ensure that your information is received and reviewed correctly for Fall 2026 admission to Kean Jersey City.
We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this additional step may cause.
For questions or assistance, please contact: EOFtransferKJC@kean.edu
Standard EOF Transfer Application Process
To apply for EOF as a transfer student, complete the following steps:
- Submit an online transfer application through the Kean University Admissions Office.
- Complete the transfer application process, including submission of official transcripts from every college and post-secondary institution you have attended.
- Indicate that you are applying as an “EOF Transfer” student. This applies to:
- Current EOF scholars transferring to Kean; and
- Transfer applicants who would like to join EOF for the first time.
- Submit the transfer application fee, or request a fee-waiver code from the EOF office:
- Kean Union: EOFtransfer@kean.edu
- Kean Jersey City: EOFtransferKJC@kean.edu
- After submitting your Kean transfer application, complete the EOF Supplemental Application in the Kean Cougar Application Portal under Forms.
- After you submit the EOF Supplemental Application, you will receive an email with instructions for providing additional information based on your applicant type.
- If you did not initially indicate that you were applying as an “EOF Transfer” student, but would like to be considered for EOF, email the appropriate EOF office and ask that the EOF Supplemental Application be added to your Kean Cougar Application Portal:
- Kean Union: EOFtransfer@kean.edu
- Kean Jersey City: EOFtransferKJC@kean.edu
Applicants with a History of EOF
Any transfer applicant with a history of receiving at least one EOF grant must submit their EOF Transfer Form from their previous EOF program. Please request the EOF transfer form from your previous/current EOF program and have them email it to EOFtransfer@kean.edu (Union) or EOFtransferKJC@kean.edu (Jersey City). Transfer forms sent to an alternative individual or email address may cause delays in your application review.
Applicants without a History of EOF
Any transfer student seeking to join the EOF program is welcome to apply and complete the EOF transfer process. Applicants need to meet the EOF statewide eligibility criteria for the academic year they seek to participate in EOF. Depending on your anticipated term of entry, you will be required to submit the following items:
- Fall 2026 Term
- Proof of 26-27 FAFSA completion
- Please add Kean University as one of your college choices on your FAFSA
- Proof of completion must show your name and could be any of the following:
- screenshot of completion confirmation page
- copy of email confirmation of completion
- first page of 26-27 Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Video Statement ( see below )
- Proof of 26-27 FAFSA completion
Personal Video Statement
- Please provide a short ( five minutes max ) video of yourself talking about:
- Your career goals and aspirations
- Support services received at your previous institution
- How did you hear about EOF? Why are you applying now? How can EOF help you achieve your goals?
- Anything else you would like us to know about you
- Note: Please begin by stating your name, current institution, and anticipated term of entry
Submission of Requested Items
Please submit all requested items via email to EOFtransfer@kean.edu (Union) or EOFtransferKJC@kean.edu (Jersey City).
Application Deadline
The Fall 2026 deadline for EOF Transfer Applications is August 21, 2026
EOF Transfer Acceptance and Funding
Space and funding within the EOF Program are limited. Transfer students with a previous history of EOF will receive priority consideration for available EOF funding.
To be considered for EOF, students must first be accepted to Kean University, submit the required enrollment deposit, and enroll for the semester for which they are applying. EOF acceptance decisions are made only after these steps have been completed.
EOF funding for a transfer student’s first semester in the Kean EOF Program will not be requested prior to the start of the semester. Enrollment, credit load, completion of the financial aid file, and fulfillment of EOF participation and program requirements must first be verified. Initial EOF acceptance does not guarantee that funding will be requested or awarded. If funding is unavailable, eligible students with prior EOF participation may still be accepted and supported as Non-Funded EOF students.
Accepted EOF Transfer students will receive an official acceptance notification by email. The notification will include information about transfer orientation, EOF participation, funding-related next steps, and other student requirements. Students should carefully review the notification and complete all required steps by the stated deadlines.
EOF Transfer Orientation
EOF Transfer Orientation sessions are held before or at the beginning of each semester. All accepted EOF transfer students are expected to attend an orientation session.
During orientation, students will learn about the benefits, services, requirements, and expectations of participating in Kean University’s EOF Program. Accepted students should monitor their Kean email accounts for orientation announcements and instructions from the EOF Office.
The Fall 2026 EOF Transfer Orientation is expected to be held in late August 2026. The date, time, location, and registration details will be provided to accepted EOF transfer students via their Kean email address.
