Incoming Student Advising

The Center for Advising, Persistence and Success (CAPS) advises all incoming freshmen and incoming transfer students with 30 or fewer credits, except for students enrolled in specialized programs such as EOF, BTS, Veterans, Kean Online, and Supera; as well as students in the School of Integrated Science and Technology (SIST), and majors in Theatre and Music. These students are advised by their respective program advisors.

Incoming transfer students with more than 30 credits are advised by faculty within their academic departments.

To schedule your advising and registration appointment, please complete the required steps to enrollment and log in to your Accepted Student Portal.

Incoming Students Reminders

  1. Submit immunization records, AP or IB scores, final high school or college transcripts: Freshman students are admitted with an incomplete high school transcript; you must submit a final transcript with the last marking period, graduation date and appropriate signature. Students who completed college credits while in high school through another college or university must submit their college transcript to Kean’s Office of Admissions to get their credits evaluated.

AP and CLEP credits must be requested through the College Board.

  1. Transfer students must submit an official final transcript with the last semester’s grades and the graduation date for their credit evaluation to be updated. Students must submit official college transcripts for every college/university attended.

  2. Activate Kean Outlook account. It is recommended students download the Outlook app to ensure they receive important information and updates.

  3. Download the advisement app (Navigate360) and course platform (Canvas).

Navigate360 is utilized to schedule advisement and tutoring appointments. It is important that students get familiar with the platform. Canvas is the system used for all course related information and delivery of course material.

  1. If commuting, register your car in the Kean parking system. To park cars on campus and avoid parking violations, students are required to register their car.

  2. Obtain Kean ID. Students can apply and obtain their ID online after registering for classes.

  3. Review your financial aid package and status of your application. Review your Keanwise self-service portal and email for important information regarding financial aid
