Where do I apply for grad school?
Students can apply online by using our Graduate Application Portal.

What is the cost of submitting my graduate application?
There is a $75 non-refundable application fee, which can be paid online through the Kean University application portal using a credit or debit card.
Are there any promo codes for fee waivers available
Yes! If you attend one of our in-person or virtual graduate events, you may be eligible for a promo code. Visit the Graduate Visit page to see upcoming events.
Does my program have an application deadline?
Yes, deadlines vary by program. Please visit our Graduate Program Application Deadlines page for page for specific dates.
Where do I send my application materials?
Official Transcripts (from all Institutions attended): Official electronic transcripts must be sent directly to ugprocessing@kean.edu by institution.
- Note for Study Abroad Students: If your study abroad coursework and grades are not included on your primary transcript, you must also submit an official transcript directly from the institution abroad.
Letters of recommendations: Recommenders’ contact information must be entered at the time of application. An electronic request will then be sent directly to each recommender.
Uploading Your Documents
After your application has been submitted, you can upload any required supplemental documents directly through your application portal. Look for the upload links once you're logged in.

Do I need to take any standardized tests for my application?
Admission requirements vary by program. Visit your program’s specific program page to learn about test requirements.
How do I check the status of my application?
Login to your application portal to track your status and submit missing documents.
How long do most graduate programs take to complete?
Most programs, if completed on a full-time basis can be completed in about 2-3 years. Some programs do take longer, due to the number of credits that are required to complete the degree.
Where is Kean University Located?
Kean University is located conveniently between the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike. We even have a New Jersey Transit train stop right on campus! Our campus is serviced by a convenient shuttle system (we actually use old-world trollies) so whether you need to be on the East Campus or on our main campus, it is only a short trolley ride away! CAS Applications & Supplemental Applications
How do I apply for a program using a CAS application?
Certain programs use a Centralized Application Service (CAS) application to apply for programs. Please refer to the list below to view the respective CAS applications:
- ATCAS: Athletic Training (M.S.)
- PTCAS: Physical Therapy (DPT)
- CASPA: Physician Assistant Studies (M.S.)
- OTCAS: Occupational Therapy (OTD & M.S.)
- PSYCAS: School and Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.)
- CSDCAS: Speech-Language Pathology (M.A.)
How do I submit the required CAS Graduate – Supplemental Application?
Please login to our application portal and select the application named CAS Graduate – Supplemental Application
BOTH the respective CAS application and the Kean University CAS Graduate - Supplemental Application MUST be completed and "verified" by the deadline for the application to be fully reviewed.
How do I send application materials to a CAS application?
Contact the Help Desk for the respective CAS application for guidance on the best way to submit your documents directly to them. Please note that Kean University does not manage the CAS platform; all documents are handled exclusively through their system.
When does the review process begin?
Your respective CAS application must be ‘verified’ and the CAS Graduate – Supplemental Application must be submitted for the review process to begin.
All documents must be officially submitted/received by the respective CAS application by the deadline. Reach out to the helpdesk of the CAS application you are using for further assistance.
Applications that are not verified by the program’s posted deadline will not be reviewed.
When thinking about classes: What is the difference between full-time vs. part-time?
Full-time: 9+ credits
Part-time: 1-8 credits (Most programs can accommodate part-time students. Contact grad admissions for additional questions)
Can I transfer graduate level credits?
A maximum of six credits may be transferred providing the course(s) are applicable to the program to which it is being applied
- Must be approved by the program coordinator and
- the grade is “B” or better and
- the course(s) fall within the six-year time limit requirement for completion of programs.
- No course may be transferred unless documented on an official transcript from the college or university at which the course was taken. Courses applied towards a previous degree may not be credited towards another degree.

How do I apply for a graduate assistantship?
The graduate assistantship application can be found in your Graduate – Application or CAS Graduate - Supplemental Application

Are there any financial aid or scholarships available?

Admitted Students/ Enrolled
I’ve been accepted — how do I secure my seat?
To secure your seat for your intended start term you must submit your enrollment deposit. This can be submitted online using your KeanWise ID and password.

How do I register for classes?
Contact your Program Coordinator listed in your acceptance letter to schedule your preregistration advisement appointment for assistance with selecting courses.
From the comfort of your own home/computer. Log into KeanWISE and register for classes yourself. Fast. Easy. Simple.
If you have any trouble, contact the Admissions Office or One-Stop Service Center to register during regular business hours.
How do I know who my program advisor is?
Refer to your acceptance letter or your application portal for the name and contact information of your program coordinator.
When are classes offered?
The best way to see what’s available is to check the course schedule on KeanWise or discuss more with program coordinator!
How do I set up my Kean Email?
Please use your credentials (username and password) located in your acceptance letter and application portal to access your email and KeanWISE.
Login to sso.kean.edu and set up MFA authentication today!
Can I request a deferral to Kean University?
Depending on program- accepted students may request a deferral for up to one academic year. Contact the office of graduate admission to discuss deferral options for your specific program.
- Deferrals are only processed after the enrollment deposit is submitted.
Does Kean offer on-campus housing for graduate students?
On our main campus located in Union, New Jersey, The Office of Residence Life provides housing for full-time graduate students.
