Voting Squad

The Voting Squad is a student-led initiative that is dedicated to strengthening the democratic fabric of our campus community by actively involving students in the electoral process. This initiative focuses on providing students with essential resources and information, thereby facilitating effective voter participation and fostering a strong sense of civic responsibility. We help students register to vote and pledge their commitment to voting, while maintaining a strictly nonpartisan stance.

Kean's Voting Squad plays a pivotal role in enhancing voter turnout by actively mobilizing students to register and participate in elections, thereby significantly increasing engagement among young adults. The organization serves as a critical resource in educating students about the electoral process, providing comprehensive guidance on voter registration, various voting methods, and the profound impact of their participation in shaping outcomes.

• For the second year in a row, Kean's Voting Squad members have been selected as recipients of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge Student Voting Honor Roll. Nestor Ramirez was the awardee in 2024 and Julora Amoako was the awardee in 2025. We are very proud of both members to not only represent our campus, but to lead our student body in a lifetime of nonpartisan civic engagement. 
• Kean University was named the Conference Two winner of the NJ Ballot Bowl 2020, a statewide voter registration competition organized by the New Jersey Secretary of State’s office to encourage civic participation among colleges and universities. This achievement was largely driven by the dedicated efforts of Kean's Voting Squad, whose tireless work significantly bolstered student voter registration.
• The Voting Squad’s impact was highlighted in an article by InsiderNJ, which celebrated the group’s exceptional ability to mobilize and engage students in the democratic process.
