Faculty Appointment Terms
- 
	12-Month Faculty: Funding is based on expected/actual effort. Administrative roles are 100% effort. Research reinvestment account eligible for those engaged in research activities. 
- 
	10-Month Faculty: Salary covers 10 months; summer work paid as an overload. Teaching and service responsibilities apply. Research reinvestment account eligible. 
- 
	10-Month Lecturers: Salary covers 10 months; summer work is paid as an overload. No research reinvestment funds. 
- 
	12-Month Lecturers: Year-round teaching commitment. No research reinvestment funds or extra salary. 
Base Salary & Extra Compensation
- 
	Institutional Base Salary (IBS): Annual compensation for research, instruction, and administration. Cannot increase due to sponsored funding. 
- 
	Faculty cannot receive extra compensation from sponsored projects beyond their IBS. 
Compensation for Part-Time Roles

Salaries for Key Personnel & Staff
- 
	Principal Investigators (PIs) & Key Personnel: Salaries are directly charged based on project effort. Salary exceeding sponsor limits is charged to non-sponsored accounts or the operating budget. 
- 
	Administrative & Clerical Staff: Not typically allowed on grants. Exceptions require prior approval at the time of proposal submission. 
- 
	Adjunct Faculty: Cannot serve as PI but may be involved via a non-standard contract (must be pre-approved). 
- 
	Academic Specialists: Max 15 hours/week, hourly or flat rate. Cannot hold two campus positions simultaneously. 
Student Employment & Stipends
- 
	Student Participants: Receive stipends for education/training; not considered employees. 
- 
	Undergraduate Student Employees: 15-20 hrs/week, 7.5 hrs/day. Must be enrolled in classes; employment ends upon graduation. 
- 
	Graduate Assistants (GAAs & GRAs): Must be enrolled for 9 credits. Paid stipend with tuition/fee remission unless restricted by sponsor.
