Charges:
- To work with stakeholders throughout the university in order to build a robust culture of writing.
- To provide clear guidelines and course requirements for Writing Emphasis classes:
- To create procedures for approval of new Writing Emphasis courses.
- To periodically review and update the definition of Writing Emphasis courses for the Undergraduate Catalog.
- To identify and support appropriate personnel who will work to:
- Investigate trends in writing in each discipline in order to understand faculty and student needs.
- Foster faculty engagement in the development of student writing habits.
- Assist faculty in infusing writing throughout all of their curricula in a meaningful and productive way.
- Support student writing development.
- To review, approve, or deny any new requests for the Writing Emphasis designation.
- To fulfill any specific or special charges from the University Senate relating to Writing Emphasis.
- To work towards meeting the University Strategic Plans and other initiatives.
