SUPERA Staff
The SUPERA advising team supports students through academic counseling, career planning, and transition services. Our goal is to help Spanish-speaking students succeed academically and graduate from Kean University.
Our transition services are designed to support students as they adjust to the academic, social, and cultural expectations of college life. This includes guidance during the transition from high school to college, assistance navigating university systems and academic requirements, and support in developing the skills needed for academic success. The team also helps students understand important processes such as course registration, financial aid, academic planning, and utilizing campus resources.
Through workshops, personalized advising, and ongoing mentorship, the SUPERA team helps students build confidence, develop strong study habits, and successfully navigate their college experience from their first semester through graduation.
Daniel Torres-Reyes
Acting Director & Counselor
SUPERA Spanish-Speaking Program
Daniel serves as the Acting Director and Counselor for the SUPERA Spanish-Speaking Program at Kean University. In this role, he provides bilingual academic advising, student success coaching, and leadership for initiatives that support first-generation and Spanish-speaking students as they transition to and succeed in higher education.
Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in International Business with a minor in Marketing, a Master of Science in College Counseling and Student Services from Kean University, and a Master of Science in Spanish from the University of Salamanca in Spain.
With more than a decade of experience in higher education since 2011, Daniel has dedicated his career to advising and mentoring students as they navigate their academic and professional journeys. He has facilitated numerous educational workshops designed to support students in the transition from high school to college and to promote academic persistence and career exploration.
Daniel is passionate about mentoring students, fostering meaningful professional relationships, and creating supportive environments where students, particularly first-generation and multilingual learners, can thrive academically and personally.
Genesis Holguin
Academic Counselor
SUPERA Spanish-Speaking Program
Genesis serves as an Academic Counselor for the SUPERA Spanish-Speaking Program, supporting students with last names A–Garcia. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from New Jersey City University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Kean University. During her graduate studies, Genesis had the opportunity to study abroad in China, gaining valuable insights into global business practices.
As an Academic Counselor, Genesis is deeply committed to helping students succeed. She provides personalized guidance on course selection, registration, and academic planning, ensuring that each student feels supported throughout their educational journey. Genesis has successfully coordinated and executed the Summer Academy for many years, assisting students with class registration, housing transitions, and extracurricular activities. She is passionate about creating a welcoming and empowering environment where students can thrive academically and personally.
Erika Jimenez Garcia
Academic Counselor
SUPERA Spanish-Speaking Program
Erika serves as a Counselor for the SUPERA Spanish Speaking Program (Last Names N-Z). Erika has earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts in College Counseling and Student Services from Kean University.
Prior to joining SUPERA, Erika worked for the Office of Computer Services at Kean University. She supported students and faculty with technology inquiries, assisted with special events, and facilitated the training of students. While obtaining her Master’s degree, Erika completed her practicums at the Passion Care Center, where she maintained and managed a caseload of clients and facilitated group-counseling sessions. She also interned at Kean University’s Career Services and Student Success and Retention, where she conducted academic counseling sessions and psychoeducation workshops.
As a bilingual professional, Erika strives to empower the Spanish-speaking community at Kean University to take advantage of all the available opportunities.
Yohange Vargas Ozoria
Yohange Vargas is an Academic Specialist at the SUPERA office, where she is committed to guiding and supporting students throughout their college experience. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Kean University.
During her time at Kean, Yohange was actively involved in student life, serving as Secretary of the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) and participating in various cultural dance performances. She was also selected to participate in the prestigious Bryant Leadership Conference, further developing her leadership and professional skills.
In addition, Yohange worked as a Resident Assistant and later as a Lead Resident Assistant for the university’s summer academies from 2022 through 2024. Her dedication to student engagement and success continues to drive her work at SUPERA.

Debora Rodriguez
Debora Rodriguez is a junior at Kean University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. She serves as a Student Assistant for the SUPERA program, where she provides support to students as they work toward achieving their academic goals. In this role, Debora assists both students and staff through academic guidance, program coordination, and engagement initiatives that foster a supportive and empowering environment.
Through her involvement in SUPERA, Debora has strengthened her communication, organization, and leadership skills while developing a deeper understanding of how educational support can positively impact student success. Her studies in Criminal Justice and Psychology reflect her passion for understanding human behavior, promoting equity, and contributing to her community. Dedicated and compassionate, Debora approaches her work and education with a strong sense of purpose and a commitment to helping others grow and succeed.
Kensil Castillo
Kensil Castillo is a Supera Student Assistant at Kean University, providing administrative and academic support to students and staff. In his role, Kensil assists with organizing office operations, guiding students with campus resources, and helping ensure that daily tasks run smoothly. His strong communication skills, reliability, and positive attitude make him an asset to the team and a role model for his peers.
Kensil is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, where he is developing a deep understanding of laboratory testing, diagnostic technology, and healthcare ethics. His interest in science and dedication to helping others have inspired him to pursue a future career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Throughout his time at Kean, Kensil has demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success. His ability to balance his studies with his professional responsibilities reflects his motivation, discipline, and leadership potential. Kensil’s enthusiasm for learning and his passion for making a positive impact continue to guide his work as a Student Assistant and shape his future goals in the medical field.
Samir Garcia
Samir Garcia serves as a Student Assistant for the SUPERA program at Kean University, where he supports both students and staff through academic guidance and administrative coordination. In this position, Samir helps manage office responsibilities, assists with student engagement activities, and promotes the use of campus services and resources. His dependability, professionalism, and approachable personality contribute to creating a welcoming environment for the Kean community.
Samir is currently earning his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, a field that allows him to combine creativity with problem-solving to explore how design can positively shape communities. His academic work focuses on sustainable design, urban systems, and cultural identity within the built environment. These studies reflect his dedication to understanding how architecture can serve as a tool for connection and transformation.
Since joining Kean, Samir has consistently shown commitment to growth, leadership, and service. Balancing his architectural education with his responsibilities in SUPERA has strengthened his communication, organization, and collaborative skills. Guided by curiosity and purpose, Samir continues to approach both his design projects and student support work with enthusiasm and a desire to make meaningful contributions to others and his future profession.
Jonathan Argudo
Jonathan Argudo is an undergraduate student at Kean University, pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Throughout his academic career, Jonathan has demonstrated a strong commitment to both academic excellence and community engagement. His coursework and research interests focus on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data analytics, reflecting his passion for using technology to solve real-world problems.
In addition to his studies, Jonathan serves as a student worker and math tutor at SUPERA, helping fellow students strengthen their analytical and problem-solving skills. This role has enhanced his communication abilities and reinforced his belief in mentorship as a vital part of academic success.
Upon completing his undergraduate degree, he plans to pursue graduate studies in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, aspiring to contribute to research that advances digital safety and equitable access to technology.
Yaritza Cabrera
Yaritza Cabrera is a dedicated student assistant at the SUPERA Office, where she provides both academic and administrative support to students. In her role, Yaritza is committed to helping students address their concerns efficiently and effectively, offering guidance and practical solutions through her knowledge and experience. Her strong communication skills allow her to connect easily with others, and she is recognized for being proactive, positive, reliable, and highly skilled at multitasking.
Yaritza is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology, a field that aligns with her goal of attending medical school. Her academic experience includes laboratory work and coursework in chemistry, human genetics, and anatomy, reflecting her passion for understanding the human body, its structure, and its functions. Additionally, she is a licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and volunteers with her town’s EMS squad, MSHVFAS, where she continues to strengthen her clinical and interpersonal skills.
Since joining Kean University, Yaritza has demonstrated exceptional dedication to academic and personal growth. Balancing her rigorous biology studies with her responsibilities at SUPERA has enhanced her leadership, organization, and communication abilities. Guided by curiosity and purpose, she approaches every opportunity, whether in the classroom, the office, or the field, with enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make meaningful contributions to her community and future profession.
Maite Lluberes
Maite Lluberes is a student assistant in the Supera office, currently pursuing a major in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. She is a passionate and positive individual who values community and service. Maite was part of the Jumpstart program as a volunteer, and she also worked in the Supera office as a mentor, where she discovered her passion for supporting and guiding others. She currently serves as the Secretary for DSA (Dominican Student Association) and enjoys being a part of the Supera community. Maite’s academic path and professional experiences reflect her commitment to helping others, advocating for personal and academic growth, and making meaningful contributions within her community.
