Social Work
Kean University offers both an undergraduate level Bachelor of Social Work degree as well as a graduate level Masters of Social Work degree program.
The BSW prepares or students to make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities while promoting social justice, equity and positive social change. BSW students learn how social workers help people navigate challenges, access resources and build on their strengths. Through coursework and hands-on learning experiences, they develop skills in communication, assessment, advocacy, problem-solving and working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. You’ll also explore important social issues such as poverty, mental health, child and family well-being, inequality, aging and access to community resources.
A BSW can open the door to careers in settings such as schools, healthcare organizations, child and family services, community agencies, nonprofit organizations, government programs and social service agencies. Graduates may also pursue social work certification in New Jersey.
