Developed by the College Board, the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) consists of several standardized tests that assess college-level knowledge in several subject areas. Students who achieve a passing score on a CLEP examination may earn introductory-level college credit, allowing them to move on to more advanced, higher-level courses.
CLEP offers examinations in the areas of English composition (essay option only), Humanities, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and History, and other specific subject areas. Kean University awards up to 18 credits for examinations in five general areas of the liberal arts - please refer to Section B under Examination Policy.
Kean students must first consult with their faculty advisor, carefully read the Examination Policy, and review Kean University's CLEP Course Equivalencies before registering to take any CLEP exam.
Students requiring test accommodations based on individual needs, should visit the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) website and click on Request Accommodations. Please submit your request at least four weeks in advance of desired accommodation start date. For more information, please contact OAS at 908-737-4910 or by email at accessibilityservices@kean.edu.
Approved accommodations should be sent to testing@kean.edu before scheduling a CLEP test appointment.
