Dan Suraci
Dan Suraci, AICP, is a nationally recognized industry leader in active transportation, complete streets, and micromobility with more than 15 years of experience catalyzing innovative mobility projects across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Dan helped launch the development of the Long Island Greenway, a 175-mile extension of the Empire State Trail from Battery Park to Montauk, and helped acquire more than $20 million in state and federal grants for subsequent design and construction. In addition, Dan led the New York Cycling Census (the largest statewide survey of cyclists ever conducted in the U.S.), and authored APTA's National Guide on Bicycle Integration with Transit. As a key subject matter expert, Dan led the development of the MTA's first strategic action plan for bicycles, pedestrians, and micromobility, and has personally led over 40 complete street workshops across New York State, educating more than 500 elected officials and planning board members. In addition to leading an overhaul of the Active Transportation elements of “Moving Forward 2055” NYMTC’s long range transportation plan for the 10-County New York Metro region, and is currently serving as a subject matter expert on NYSDOT's Statewide Active Transportation Plan. Outside of Kean, Dan maintains his professional consulting practice – Urban Cycling Solutions – and has served in prior roles at Lime, NYCDOT, and Bike New York.
