About
At Kean University’s Robert Busch School of Design, part of the Michael Graves College, our BFA programs in Advertising and Graphic Design prepare students to excel in the ever-evolving fields of visual communication. As the only school of design in New Jersey, we offer a unique environment where students blend design theory, principles, and emerging technologies to craft compelling solutions across a wide range of platforms, including digital media, AR/VR/XR, and generative design.
Our graduates launch successful careers at esteemed design studios, advertising agencies, and global corporations such as Disney, Google, Dentsu, Deutsch, Droga5, Ogilvy, R/GA, and Saatchi & Saatchi. Their work has earned prestigious accolades, including Gold Pencils from The One Club and awards from GDUSA and D&AD’s Young Blood.
The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experience through internships, our in-house design studio practicum, and participation in events such as the annual Thinking Creatively Conference, which brings in leading industry figures. Students also benefit from field trips to NYC design studios, ad agencies, and major conferences, where they engage directly with professionals shaping the industry.
With our affordable opportunities to study abroad including a spring semester in Rome and/or any semester at our English speaking campus in Wenzhou, China, students gain not only an international experience but also they a perspective that gives them a foundation to understand and create design for global audiences.
In addition to technical proficiency, we foster critical and creative thinking, helping students develop a distinctive design voice and an understanding of how design influences the world. With a strong foundation in branding, UI/UX, motion design, integrated advertising, and more, Kean graduates are well-prepared for careers in graphic design, advertising, branding, web design, social media, packaging, and beyond.
