Admission Requirements
In addition to the University’s admissions requirements:
● Baccalaureate with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
● Official transcripts from all institutions attended
● Three Letters of Recommendation (professional experience)
● An appropriate scholarly writing sample
● Professional resume/CV
● Personal Statement
● Official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score reports(If required)

- 30 credit course sequence
- 9 credits of program practicum

Certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities - Track A
Certification Only for Candidates Certified as Special Education Teachers under Alternate Route Program
Program Description
This is a program leading to certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities for those individuals who received primary certification through Special Education employment and attendance at an Alternate Route Center established by the State of New Jersey.

- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Certificate of Eligibility in an instructional area
- Letter of Employment from School District
- Personal statement

- Official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score reports

Certification Only for Candidates Who Already Hold a Standard New Jersey Teaching Certificate
Program Description
This is a program leading to certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities for those individuals who hold a standard certificate or certificate of eligibility with advanced standing for teaching in the State of New Jersey.

- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- New Jersey CEAS or Standard Certification in an Instructional Area
- Personal statement
- Professional Resume/CV
- Official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score reports

Post-Master’s Certification: Applied Behavior Analysis: Autism and Developmental Disabilities
Admission Requirements
In addition to the University’s admissions requirements:
● Baccalaureate and master’s degree in an acceptable field of study from a qualifying institution. Applicants who are unsure of whether the field of study of their degree is acceptable may request a preliminary review.
● Official transcripts from all institutions attended
● Three letters of recommendation (professional experience)
● Furnish an appropriate scholarly writing sample

● Professional statement of interest
● Official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score reports

- 18 credit course sequence
- 6 credits of program practicum

Post-Master's Certification: Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC)
In addition to the University’s admissions requirements:
- Master degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field with a minimum cumulative graduate degree GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). The cumulative GPA inclusive of all programs attended will also be considered as part of the application.
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended (including all undergraduate and graduate schools attended)
- Copies of all valid New Jersey Certifications
- A letter from the school administrator/school district on official letterhead documenting at least three years of full-time teaching experience is required. Only full-time teaching experience is considered
- Written statement (1-2 pages) detailing why you are pursuing this certification and future goals
- Professional Resume/CV
- Official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score reports
TRANSFER OF CREDITS
- Two courses from another institution of higher learning may be accepted provided credits are within six years (6) of previous graduate work.
- Course work descriptions must be submitted with application.
- Acceptance is pending review of courses and submission of official transcripts to the program coordinator.
KEAN UNIVERSITY CREDITS
- Courses previously taken at Kean may be accepted if they fall within the 6 year limit of previous graduate work.
- Acceptance is pending review of courses by coordinator.
Program Requirements:
- 24 credits
- Practicum and Internship (90 clinical hours)
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience with a valid NJ teaching certificate required for certification
